A Simple Plan
Draco looked around at the blindingly white snow that surrounded him and the handsome house a little farther away. The house looked warm and welcoming, decorated with Christmas lights and covered in snow. It seemed cosy and fit for a large family, but Draco knew that only one person lived here. A person Draco was here to see. A person Draco wanted very much.
For the last few months, Draco had pondered the possible ways of seducing his fellow Ministry employee, or more precisely, Harry Potter, the man who lived to fulfil everyone's expectations, including Draco's own, who had expected him to be devastatingly handsome and gay. Draco had thought of some brilliant plans, and some truly crazy and complicated ones. However, nothing had worked. Possibly because most of them really were rather complicated, or alternatively, because they rarely saw the light of day and were sadly restricted to nighttime fantasies. Draco pondered locking Potter and himself somewhere and then talk Potter's ears off until Potter snapped and kissed him to shut him up. Though that was technically kidnapping. He thought of randomly appearing naked, possibly tied down, in Potter's bed. (This included a whipped cream and no whipped cream variant.) But that was breaking and entering. And he considered claiming he had a fatal disease and regular sex with Harry Potter was the only cure listed. Though that was something Potter would never forgive him once he realised Draco was alive and planning to stay so.
And those were his brilliant plans. The crazy ones were deeply suppressed in his mind and inappropriate to ponder on Christmas Day.
His latest plan, however, was a bit different. It was entirely too impulsive and much too Gryffindor-ish for Draco's taste. It was also surprisingly simple and that just didn't bode well. But Draco had come all the way here and wasn't prepared to give up now.
He clutched the object in his hands and nervously but determinedly approached Potter's house. Gulping once, he steeled himself and knocked on the door.
After a few moments, the door swung open to reveal a cheerful, smiling Potter, whose happy expression turned into one of confusion quickly.
"Malfoy?" Potter asked, surprised, as though strange people with plans didn't appear on his doorstep all the time.
Reminding himself that talk was cheap, Draco released the struggling object from his hands, and let it fly up to settle high above Potter's head.
Potter looked up, staring worriedly, with his lips slightly parted much to Draco's delight. Wasting not time, Draco stepped inside, grabbed Potter around his waist and leaned his whole body a little so his mouth was in perfect position for Draco to kiss.
"Mistletoe," Draco warned, and then lowered his lips to Potter's.
In his mind, Potter responded fervently, kissing Draco back and moaning, but in the cruel reality, Draco licked and sucked, and used his tongue and teeth to no effect. Potter was at first completely still, probably from shock, and then he began to mumble and push Draco away.
It was unfair of Potter to be so strong, but he managed to free himself from Draco's grasp too easily and too soon, before Draco had a chance to demonstrate his considerable kissing talent.
Potter stood still, staring and breathing heavily. He licked his lips and blinked in surprise, looking so incredibly kissable Draco feared he'd have to grab and kiss him again, and then keep trying until Potter decided to either cave or arrest him.
"Mistletoe," Draco said again, this time defensively, pointing up just in case Potter hadn't realised Draco had a valid excuse to kiss him.
Potter looked up again, and then he looked both left and right as well as behind Draco as though searching for someone else to jump out of a random corner and kiss him.
"You're supposed to kiss a person that stands under mistletoe," Draco clarified, worried that perhaps Potter wasn't aware of this custom.
Potter took a step back, staring up at the mistletoe that conveniently followed his retreat.
"It's charmed," Potter observed astutely.
Draco nodded and then, realising Potter wasn't looking at him, said, "Yes. For today. So you shouldn't go out. People might accost you and try to kiss you."
Potter lowered his gaze to look directly at Draco. "Crazies."
Draco nodded vehemently, annoyed at the half of Wizarding World that would undoubtedly be eager to take advantage of this situation.
Potter licked his lips again, and then touched them with his fingertips, still looking amazed and shocked. Then, he smiled a little and fiddled with his wristwatch as though not knowing what to do with his hands. Squirming, he cleared his throat and said, "It's still there." He twitched his chin in the direction of the mistletoe, and then cocked his head slightly, parting his lips and breathing quickly as though waiting to be kissed again.
Tentatively, Draco took a step forward, not daring to believe his luck, and then he took another step, leaning in, his eyes open wide. He gently pressed his lips to Potter's while they still stared at each other, neither of them breathing. As Draco carefully moved his lips to the right, Harry moved his to the left, and when Draco trapped Harry's bottom lip between his, Harry closed his lips around Draco's upper one.
And this was definitely responding, Draco concluded, and dared to lick Harry's lips and slip his tongue between them. Harry's own tongue slid against Draco's at once, making Draco react violently, now sure he wasn't imagining things. He grabbed Potter around his waist again, hugging him close as he hurried to perform the demonstration he hadn't been allowed to exhibit earlier.
This time Harry moaned in appreciation, clearly as impressed as he should have been.
Pulling back, Harry whispered breathlessly, "The whole day under the mistletoe. That's a lot of kisses I'll have to endure."
"We'll alternate kissing with other activities," Draco promised, kissing Potter again. And then yet again. And then he remembered he could breathe through his nose so he kissed Potter once more, resolved to break his promise and never stop.
Somewhere behind him, the door snapped closed, isolating them from the world and trapping them in Potter's house, leaving them to their kiss-filled fate.
And Draco solemnly promised to himself that in the future, he'd stick to simple plans.
