No, no... don't cry... I don't think slash-lovers dislike het just because they think it's bad... I don't really like het my self, not because I think het fics are badly written, but because it tends to bore me a bit. I've read my fair share of (het) romances when I was a teenager and it seems like most het can't offer much that is new. Slah feels somehow fresher (tough this might be just an illusion created by the male/male pairing). I can't identify with most of the female romance caracters. Not that I identify with the males either, but with them I don't need to try to do that so much. Also it seems it is often harder to avoid the various clishes of the genre when writing het. Slash is actually the same but you just don't notice the clishes because as a straight woman I don't really know how gay/bi men experience sex. Slah distances me from my own sexual experinces, so I can enjoy it wether it is realistic or not...
Oh well, what a rant... you surely have heard/know all this already being a slash fan too. And man, it is really hard to to try to write coherently about these things in not-my-mother-tongue. Phew.
