First, congrats. *big squishes*

Second, your poor puppy! But it sounds like you had good-natured fun in the process. And that old dead lady next door sounds freaky. And somewhat scary. Glad your mom is doing better.

Third, I don't believe there's a right and wrong way of experiencing fandom. I believe it's everyone's right to manage their time how they see fit. Having said that, I think your approach is great. And I know I squeed about your Guide when I first saw it. I have since added it to my links. So many good points in there. In fact, I thought of you as I read the wank, and was thinking, "Clearly they haven't read the guide." ;D

As for your blockquote issues ... last year, I read almost every single HDWC fic posted, and commented on them all. It nearly burned me out completely. I even read stuff I'm iffy on, and I honestly found something good in them all, even if overall it wasn't something that interested me. I only drew the line at a few major squicks. This year? Not happening.

First, because I swore I wouldn't do that to myself again. Second, I don't have the time. And third, I don't want to read things I don't like. I do it for the Prophet (minus my squicks), but that's where I draw the line. I read new authors every week when I'm preparing for my issue. The rest of the week, I generally don't have time. I don't like infidelity fics, so I don't read Epilogue. I don't like AU either. So that leaves team EWE. I'm not a huge fluff fan - though sometimes I'm in the mood - so Smoochfest is only getting a bit of my attention (though I've betaed a few). I just don't have time.

I don't think you're a picky bitch. I think we all have to manage our lives how we see fit. Only we know what we have on our plates, and if other people want to take offence to that, so be it. I can't be everyone's keeper, though I won't go out of my way to make anyone feel badly or excluded.

If I write something you don't like, I don't expect you to read it. Just like Jae and Alaana won't read my angst. Just like I won't read Harry as a cheater / Harry or Draco with someone other than each other / cross-gen, or many other pairings and squicks. No hard feelings. Ever. ♥ And if you don't like something, no ... I don't expect you to comment, either to say, "this sucks" or "well, I liked how you portrayed Harry's initial confrontation with the criminal" when you hated the rest.

Okay, I think my comment rivals your post for length. ;D
