Well, yeah, but if you were to copy and paste a word doc into a text editor, like notepad, it would have a ton of extra metadata code you don't need.

Well, not if you just use Word as you would use Notepad. And after it's coded (manually) paste it into LJ's HTML editor. There's no extra data then. Which is what I do.
